When your team is up and running, they’ll need a starting point and a direction to move in. The very first step is to come together and define a problem statement, which will inform their goal. For example:

Problem statement: We don’t have hot drinks for our meeting.

Goal: We have refreshments for our meeting.

With a clear understanding of what ‘problems’ you need to fix, your team will be able to visualise an ideal end point or solution. From there you can go about mapping out a process that helps you solve that problem statement and reach your goal. However simple or complex that process might be, you have a point where you can start and a point where you’ve reached a satisfactory solution.
